Parallel Sports Inc.

Parallel Sports Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation situated in Geelong, operated by volunteers who pride themselves in providing support and engaging individuals with physical disabilities, helping them to connect with community based sports.

Our organisation has a strong local community focus and is affiliated with many local service providers, schools, sports and recreation organisations. We facilitate a social mixed wheelchair basketball competition plus ongoing school and community group programs whilst also being involved in the provision of adaptive equipment for people with a mobility disability throughout the region for sports including: wheelchair tennis, racing and athletics, hand cycling, wheelchair rugby and rowing.

Parallel Sports School Program
Parallel Sports Inc. runs programs for schools providing a Wheelchair Basketball experience, disability awareness and education sessions.
These sessions are run by our local volunteer Paralympian's.
Similar programs can be organised for corporate events on request.

Anyone interested in swimming do not hesitate to contact 'Parallel Sports' as there are a variety of clubs and social swimming centres that offer many
different swimming programs that can be matched to the individual. 


Development training sessions are held at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park on Tuesday nights.

Training is also held in Ballarat on Wednesday nights.

Barwon Rowing Club
With an adaptive single scull as well as many other club boats available for use, Barwon Rowing Club offers a variety of come and try and training sessions.

Wheelchair Rugby

Wheelchair Rugby training sessions are held at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds on Friday nights from 5:30 - 7:00pm.

These sessions will run from July 1st - August 5th and will be extended if there is enough interest.

  • Wheelchair Basketball at Geelong Arena June 19th Some of our volunteers recently represented the Geelong Supercats in some exhibition wheelchair basketball games at the Geelong Arena. We played against teams from both Bendigo and Shepparton in a small round robin tournament. Our hope is that this will be the first steps towards a state-wide series of tournaments to be run throughout next year.We would like to thank the Geelong Arena for hosting the games, as well as the referees/scorers. Also a huge thank you to everyone from Bendigo and Shepparton who travelled down to play on the day.

  • St Josephs Community Week As part of our Schools Program we attended St Josephs College Geelong to be a part of their year 11 Community Week. Over the week Parallel Sports ran a daily program of wheelchair basketball.This program is extremely popular and wheelchair basketball was embraced enthusiastically by all participants.Our team of presenters were all impressed by the attitude and positive responses from the participants following the program.
