Parallel Sports Inc.

Parallel Sports Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation situated in Geelong, operated by volunteers who pride themselves in providing support and engaging individuals with physical disabilities, helping them to connect with community based sports.

Our organisation has a strong local community focus and is affiliated with many local service providers, schools, sports and recreation organisations. We facilitate a social mixed wheelchair basketball competition plus ongoing school and community group programs whilst also being involved in the provision of adaptive equipment for people with a mobility disability throughout the region for sports including: wheelchair tennis, racing and athletics, hand cycling, wheelchair rugby and rowing.

Parallel Sports School Program
Parallel Sports Inc. runs programs for schools providing a Wheelchair Basketball experience, disability awareness and education sessions.
These sessions are run by our local volunteer Paralympian's.
Similar programs can be organised for corporate events on request.

Time: Every Tuesday night from 6:30pm (excluding school holidays)
Where: Try Boys Stadium, Geelong

Swimming

Anyone interested in swimming do not hesitate to contact 'Parallel Sports' as there are a variety of clubs and social swimming centres that offer many
different swimming programs that can be matched to the individual. 

Athletics

Development training sessions are held at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park on Tuesday nights.

Training is also held in Ballarat on Wednesday nights.

Rowing

Barwon Rowing Club
With an adaptive single scull as well as many other club boats available for use, Barwon Rowing Club offers a variety of come and try and training sessions.

Wheelchair Rugby

Wheelchair Rugby will be starting soon in the Geelong region. 
Adaptive wheelchairs are available to use.

  • St Josephs Community Week As part of our Schools Program we attended St Josephs College Geelong to be a part of their year 11 Community Week. Over the week Parallel Sports ran a daily program of wheelchair basketball.This program is extremely popular and wheelchair basketball was embraced enthusiastically by all participants.Our team of presenters were all impressed by the attitude and positive responses from the participants following the program.

  • SEABL Curtain Raiser On Friday 8th of April, our members participated in a basketball match as a curtain raiser to the SEABL men's game between the Geelong Supercats and Kilsyth.We played against a team from Kilsyth, who travelled down especially for the event, and played a fantastic game which was decided by 2 points. Thanks to Dean Anglin and Basketball Geelong we were treated as honorary Supercats for the evening, playing on the main show court of the Geelong Arena and we had reserved court side seats for the men's game which the Supercats won comfortably.Thanks to all the players who were involved, especially those from Kilsyth who took the time to travel down to play in the game ...

  • 2016 Wheelchair Basketball Local Competition Season Launch Our first season of Wheelchair Basketball for 2016 kicks off on Tuesday the 1st of March at 6:30pm.   We already have a number of returning teams and a few new faces very excited to get the season underway.   If you would like to get involved please see the attached flyer for further details.   Looking forward to seeing everybody next Tuesday.
